CRITERIA FOR ASSOCIATION
What do we see in a person, which leads the brothers of Phi Kappa Tau to choose to extend an offer of Associate membership with the fraternity?
Conduct becoming a responsible citizen and gentleman
Maintenance of a high standard of scholarship
A spirit of sincerity and respect towards the Fraternity and its members
Support of the interests of the brotherhood
Reception of every member of the Fraternity as a brother without evasion or reservation
JOURNEY
An Associate Member is NOT a "brother" upon acceptance of their "bid" to join; rather, he IS a "member" of Phi Kappa Tau and should feel like one.
The Associate Member journey, which spans six weeks, are among the first steps taken to join the larger group - the chapter and National fraternity.
Understand we treat Associate members like brothers and they still have input in discussions and decisions
The Associate Member journey, is an important time to think about the person "why" for joining
ASSOCIATE PIN
Represents that An Associate Member is indeed a member of Phi Kappa Tau
The only difference right now is that Associate Members have not yet completed the six-week program, don’t have a vote in RC meetings, and of course have not gone through initiation.
The Associate badge should be worn only for ritual events such as a Formal/Ritual Chapter Meeting
ASSOCIATION CEREMONY
The Association Ceremony is an opportunity to gain insights into NON-Secret aspects of our fraternity. It is an important ritual, and should be approached with seriousness, excitement, and celebration.
